City Tower links Manchester’s traditional business core and retail districts with its entrances on York Street and facing The Gardens.
York St
York Street is set to see a significant public realm investment and will be transformed into a tree-lined avenue. As with many European centres, there will be no height differential between pavement and road, which will instead be marked with low-level lighting and waist height polished posts.
This main link between Manchester’s traditional business district and Piccadilly main line station will be complemented by City Tower’s dramatic, 11m x 11m glazed York Street entrance Mall.
The Gardens
The Gardens is not only Manchester’s main transport hub, providing fast and efficient means of transport to all commuters. It is also Manchester’s largest green public space and has benefited from over £100 million investment in extensive landscaping.
In addition, a range of coffee shops and cafés has transformed the Gardens into a popular and cosmopolitan meeting place.
Our design for City Tower’s glazed entrance Mall facing the Gardens is in keeping with this transformation and features the largest media screen outside of London.
